Sweet criminy I'd forgotten how much it hurts to break in a new pair of Doc Martens. OH GOODNESS. ~Suffering for fashion~

In semi-related news, does anyone know how to reshape wool? I still have my scally cap from, gosh, high school, which I wore out in the rain a few too many times, so the front is a bit misshapen. I never got rid of it, due to A) nostalgia and b) it's a nice hat. I'm picturing wetting it and shoving some paper towels in, but idk if that'd just make it worse.

What kind of Docs did you get? I love them but if they're not made of the more pliable napa leather, they kind of scare me, especially the boots. I can deal with the oxfords since I more or less already know where my pain points are and can put on Band-Aids in anticipation.

I think you need to get the wool wet to reshape it. That's what I had to do with my carded wool slippers anyway.

Oh god, new Docs are so beautiful and so painful. *winces*

You can totally reshape wool - it's called "blocking," and knitters do it all the time. This is a pretty good explanation. For your hat, I'd suggest wet blocking.
